It was another successful evening of information, inspiration and positive change last night at the Grammy Recording Academy and MusiCares! Last night's topic was Body Composition analysis and percentages: what they mean, and what cutting-edge nutrients and fitness styles affect them the best.
Body Composition analysis has four components:
Body Fat Percentage
Muscle Mass Percentage
Water Weight
Bone Mass
Often times, when starting a new diet and exercise program, only weight is measured as the benchmark for change and success. Not true! It is very easy to lose weight, and still be in unhealthy body composition ranges. You may have more fat than muscle mass, but still weigh very little, or be dehydrated even though you have good muscle structure and content. It's very important to get all the numbers, so you can have a whole picture of your body's true state of physical fitness in order to get the most amazing results you are working so hard to achieve.
Tip: A 2013 study published in Nutrition Journal found an astounding correlation between the combination of calcium and Vitamin D3 with FAT loss. From the study:
"[Obese]Participants were randomized to receive an energy restricted diet, supplemented with 600 milligrams calcium and 125 international units (IU) vitamin D3, or an unsupplemented diet for 12 weeks." Which is a very small amount of either supplement. What they found was:
"Men and women who received calcium and vitamin D experienced a 55.6 percent greater decrease in fat mass loss than the control subjects, and had a greater reduction in visceral fat mass and fat area."
If you're not getting adequate amounts of calcium and Vitamin D3, not only are you doing your immune system and skeletal system a huge disservice, you are also actually preventing yourself from getting that extra fat removed from your body, and around your organs. Calcium + D3 is an excellent natural way to reduce fat, and decrease your over-all body fat composition percentage.
